ID Determined For Man Found Dead In Norwalk Harbor More Than 20 Years Ago

After more than 20 years, police have been able to identify the body of a man found on an island in Norwalk Harbor.

The man, enveloped in weeds and debris, was discovered April 18, 1996, on Shea Island in Long Island Sound, and at the time he could not be identified, said Norwalk Police Lt. Terry Blake.

But with dedication and "never give up attitude," of Norwalk Police Lt. Art Weisgerber, he has finally been identified as Landberto Quintero.

Weisgerber decided with the advancement of fingerprint technology to submit the man's two available fingerprints to the Latent Print Unit of the State of Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory, Blake said.

On Thursday, Weisgerber received a call from Latent Print Examiner Anthony Villanueva that a positive identification had been made to the right ring finger.

Now, the goal is to find out what happened to Quintero and to find any relatives or people who might have known him.
